Final Project - Graphic Novel and Motion Comic
FINAL PROJECT
For this project, we were first required to come up with the narrative of our story following the 3-act structure. I also looked up some visual references for the style we were going for. Attached below is my story and visual references in power point.
Next I started sketching the comic in Illustrator. This is the style I did for all 3 pages of my comic. I used a light colour for the background and used the brush tool to sketch. For my comic I separated the piece into several layers and each page was a different Photoshop file. The layers were sketch, background, line art, colour and speech bubbles.
After finishing the comic in still images I cut them up to fit a 16:9 aspect ratio and added transition effects to make the video. I used Vegas Pro for the motion comic part of this project. Below is the final video I submitted for this project. I also added title cards in the beginning and end of the video. The transitions of the frames are just fade in and fade out.

- The type of animation is up to you whether it's frame by frame or if you animate the characters in your story, as long as there is animation.
REFLECTION
I was quite scared to start this assignment really. The reason being I had not much experience with digital art. The whole project took me a week and a half in total to figure out how to do and the execution. Watching YouTube tutorials helped a lot and from there I followed they're layering and methods. I also used Vegas Pro because it was the software I was most comfortable using and I had some experience. It got the job done so I'm satisfied.
