FINAL REFLECTION

During this semester, I think Design Principles was my favourite subject. Given I'm from Computer Science program I'm not very familiar with design softwares so having the opportunity to do my artwork in a physical form was more comfortable for me. I got to use some art mediums that I was not familiar with like charcoal and it was a great learning experience for me. There were some projects that were optional for me to use software to create my pieces and I think those parts are important to give students the option to do that. From this module, I didn't just learn about the principles of design, I also learned how to apply them in my work. Having the final project, the visual analysis really showed how all these principles come into play to make 1 piece of artwork look good. I'm definitely more observant now when looking at a piece of work and I see different principles of design being applied. Overall, it was a good learning experience and the feedback from our lecturer Miss Maria definitely helped guide us in the right direction.

In terms of having the semester half physical and half online, I think having it online was better but maybe because there weren't that many people who showed up for the physical class. I don't think I got to experience a real physical class because we watched the recorded lecturer beforehand. In my opinion, having the lecture in class would've been more interesting because the classes for this semester was solely focused on giving feedback to students and learning about the principles of design occurred outside of that classroom. Having the class online also allowed me more time to work on my sketch or progress before meeting with the lecturer to show her my progress which was one of the benefits of having the class online. It was more comfortable when I had online classes at the dorm but since I had to move back home with my family, there were a lot of things that disrupted my online learning and the internet connection at home was very poor too.

There were a lot of things that could've gone better during the semester but the CMCO was the main issue but it was an unavoidable circumstance. Even so, I enjoyed this module a lot and it was a good learning experience.
